White Wine Albariño La Caña 2022
Availability: Out of stock
The prestigious Jorge Ordóñez founded Bodegas La Caña in 2003 with the aim of creating high-quality Spanish white wines. Almost two decades later, and with the aid of New Zelander oenologist Natalie Christensen, he has achieved his goal.
A varietal Albariño from DO Rías Baixas, Albariño La Caña is made from grapes coming from a selection of 12 of the 38 little plots planted before 1990 in Valle del Salnés. The grapes come from low-yielding vines, an all of the vinification process is carried out following traditional techniques.
Manually harvested, 25% of the Albariño grapes were fermented in French oak barrels, while the rest completed the process in stainless steel tanks. Then it was aged for 8 months on its lees. After that, Albariño La Caña 2022 was blended and aged for a further months.
This varietal white wine from Rías Baixas has consistently received accolades and high scores by some of the world's top wine critics.
Appearance | The white wine Abariño La Caña is medium straw with golden reflections. |
---|---|
Nose | This varietal Albariño exhibits some elegant notes of white fruit and yellow fruit, along with white flowers, some remembrances of citrus rind, and overtones of herbs and wet earth. |
Palate | Exquisitely crafted, this wine of Bodegas La Caña from Jorge Ordóñez has a substantial volume that fills the mouth, though at the same time it is light, fresh and dry. Flavours of citrus, balsam and aromatic herbs over a mineral background enlivened by a salty touch. Steely acidity and a long, slightly bitter finish. |
Our personal opinion | Once again, Jorge Ordóñez has hit the mark. Albariño La Caña 2022 will pair well with seafood and fish recipes. |
