Red Wine Alenza Gran Reserva 2018
Gran reserva red wine from Ribera del Duero. Varietal Tempranillo aged for 27 months in American oak barrels.
Availability: In stock
Produced by the Condado de Haza winery, one of the projects of the legendary Alejandro Fernández, the wine Alenza Gran Reserva has all the markings of a top-shelf Ribera, plus a tad of rusticity to spice it up.
This varietal Spanish red wine is made solely from Tempranillo vines sourced from the Maricalva parcel, a sloped vineyard with excellent sun exposure planted at an altitude around 800 metres in the Roa area, province of Burgos, DO Ribera del Duero. The climate is unforgiving, with bitterly cold winters and very hot summers. All these factors result in grapes of exceptional quality.
The hand-harvested grapes were meticulously selected. It is worth mentioning that, following the tradition of the Roa area in Burgos, this red wine from Ribera del Duero was only partially destemmed.
After that, the wine Alenza Gran Reserva 2018 was aged for 27 months in American oak barrels.
Then this Gran Reserva red wine was bottled and aged for some years in the cellar before hitting the market.
Decant 1 hour before drinking.

Nose | This varietal Tempranillo feels remarkably youthful and energetic, with dense aromas of blueberries, ripe cherries, pipe tobacco, eucaliptus and Moroccan leather, evolving into coco, vanilla, cardamom with a lively mineral streak. |
Palate | This wine of the Condado de Haza winery is ripe and expansive, with grippy, muscular tannins, impressive depth and remarkable acidity. Gently warm, with a dense core of black fruit with some earthy and meaty underpinnings and a very long finish suggesting forest berries, dark chocolate and cedar cigar box. |
Our personal opinion | The red wine Alenza Gran Reserva 2018 is a super-premium Ribera unashamedly proud of its peasant soul. |
