Red Wine Altanza Reserva 2017
Availability: In stock
Tradition and innovation meet in Altanza Reserva, an amazing value from Bodegas Altanza.
This varietal Spanish red wine is produced from over 50-year-old Tempranillo vineyards planted in different locations across the Rioja Alta region.
Following a philosophy of minimum intervention, the grapes were handpicked and manually selected. Fermentation and maceration took place in stainless steel tanks, where the wine must remained in contact with the grape skins in order to extract colour, tannin and aromatic compounds.
After being transferred into French oak barrels, this Reserva red wine from La Rioja completed malolactic fermentation and was aged for over a period of 18 months. Then this vegan wine spent a further 3 months in big Allier oak vats.
Finally, Altanza Reserva 2017 was bottled and aged for another 12 months in the cellar prior to its commercial release.
Aerate this Rioja red wine 30 minutes before drinking.
Appearance | The red wine Altanza Reserva is medium ruby with a reddish rim. |

Nose | Elegance is the word here. This varietal Tempranillo shows fine notes of Moroccan leather, Havanna cigars, damp earth and woodland, with notes of menthol and balsam. This Rioja reserva also shows notes of fresh red berries and liquor-infused black fruit. |
Palate | This wine of Bodegas Altanza is nearing its peak. Excellent balance between the fruit and the oak, with flavours of wild berries, balsam, liquorice and a dash of cinnamon. Lively acidity, ripe tannins and long, creamy-toasted finish. |
Our personal opinion | A flawless Rioja, Altanza Reserva 2017 is a great match to hearty dishes. |
