Fortified Wine Alvear Fino Capataz
Fino from Montilla-Moriles. Varietal Pedro Ximénez aged under the flor veil in soleras for 12 years.
Availability: In stock
The oldest of all the Finos produced by bodega Alvear, Alvear Fino Capataz is an interesting Spanish fortified wine.
Instead of being produced from Palomino, which is usually the case, this Fino is a varietal Pedro Ximénez, the most representative variety of DO Montilla-Moriles.
Produced following the soleras and criaderas system, this Fino from Montilla-Moriles was aged for 12 years minimum under the "flor" veil.
This fortified wine hence lies halfway between an aged Fino and a young Amontillado. It is a truly unique fortified wine from Montilla-Moriles.
Pair this dry fortified wine with oysters, tempura vegetables or clam soup. You can also enjoy it throughout a multi course meal.
Appearance | The fortified wine Alvear Fino Capataz is deep mahogany with some brownish reflections. |
---|---|
Nose | Aromas of dry fruit, candied sugar and spices, typical of the Pedro Ximénez variety, with some saline and bitter remembrances. |
Palate | This wine from bodegas Alvear is smooth-bodied and pleasantly unctuous, with flavours of dates, bitter green almonds and citrus peel, ending in a note of old wood and withered leaves. |
Our personal opinion | The wine Alvear Fino Capataz is one of the very best Finos produced in Spain. |
