Red Wine Amadis 2016
Availability: In stock
This prestigious Spanish red wine from DOQ Priorat. Interestingly, the wine Amadis was named after the protagonist of a medieval knight's tale, “Los Cuatro Libros del Virtuoso Caballero Amadís de Gaula.” In this ancient folk lore, the knight Amadís fights against monsters with superhuman powers and finally gets the girl.
A blend of Grenache, Samsó (Carignan), Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Merlot, the fermentation process of this red wine from Priorat lasted for 15 days in stainless steel tanks that were kept at a constant 27 ºC. After the first day of this fermentation process, the wine was pumped over five times a day to extract aromas and colour.
After finishing the process, Amadis 2016 was aged for 12 months in French oak barrels. Then, this wine of bodega Rotllan Torra was stored in the cellar for some years before its commercial release.
This Crianza red wine will undoubtedly improve in the bottle.
Decant a substantial period of time before drinking.
Appearance | The red wine Amadis is medium purple with bright garnet reflections. |
---|---|
Nose | This blend of Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Samsó and Syrah is rich and deep. Old leather, tobacco, and stalks of dried herbs, evolving into vanilla, wild berries jam and some balsamic and mineral notes. The complexity becomes more intense by the minute, as it opens to the air and warms to room temperature. |
Palate | This wine of the Rotllan Torra winery is structured and textured, with grainy tannins, a spicy undercurrent and a zippy acidity to carry the weight. Lively notes of smoke and exotic spices (clove and vanilla), accompanying the intense flavours of wild berries. Very good acidity with note of Med garrigue and a deep mineral core. |
Our personal opinion | A wine for seasoned enthusiasts, Amadis 2016 has real depth and stunning concentration. |
