Details
One of the best wines of the Vinos de Parcela collection of bodegas Artadi, the wine Artadi El Carretil is a supreme expression of an exceptional Tempranillo vineyard located in Laguardia, in the heart of La Rioja Alavesa.
A 3.64-hectare, south-oriented and organically farmed parcel, it was planted in 1930, 1975 and 1988 in an area with very low levels of organic matter and clayey-loam soils with a high carbonate and limestone content, mainly responsible for the amazing transparency and radiance of this Spanish red wine.
The hand-harvested grapes were meticulously selected and cold-macerated for 24 to 48 hours before fermenting in stainless steel tanks for 10 to 12 days, with periodic punch-downs and pump-overs of the solid skin cap.
After that, this red wine from Rioja Alavesa was transferred into French oak barrels, where it underwent malolactic fermentation and was aged for 12 months.
The red wine Artadi El Carretil 2021 was bottled in May 2023.
