Produced by bodegas Artadi, the wine Artadi San Lázaro is one of the most refined propositions of the Vinos Singulares product range, which digs deep into the world-class terroir of the Rioja Alavesa.
A pure expression of an outstanding wine region, this varietal Spanish red wine is solely made from a 1.62-hectare parcel planted in 1956 with Tempranillo vines near the village of Laguardia. Oriented to the south-east, the vineyard has sandy-loam soils and is organically farmed.
After a meticulous harvest, the grapes went through a pre-fermentation cold maceration for 24-48 hours before fermenting in stainless steel tanks for 10 to 12 days, with periodic punch-downs and pump-overs.
Then this Crianza red wine was transferred into French oak barrels, where it underwent malolactic fermentation and was aged for 12 months.
The red wine Artadi San Lázaro 2021 was bottled in May 2023.
