NEW PARKER SCORES FOR RIBERA DEL DUERO AND TORO
Mr. Luis Gutiérrez, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate's correspondent for Spain, recently published two articles about, respectively, the regions of Ribera del Duero and Toro.
Here is a list of wines that received high scores from the respected wine critic.
All of them are authentic, deep, truly terroir-orientated Spanish red wines.
Let's begin with four wines from Ribera del Duero.
The first is a single varietal, high-altitude Tinta Fina. Dominio de Atauta 2013 is pure, fresh and mineral. Parker 92.
Produced by one of the most prestigious wineries of the region, Pago de Carraovejas Crianza 2014 combines Tinta Fina, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. And a nice score it got: Parker 93
Crafted from Tinta del País and Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmelo Rodero Crianza 2014 has a good ageing potential. Parker 92+.
Finally, here is a single varietal Tempranillo by Pago de los Capellanes. Pago de los Capellanes Crianza 2014. Parker 92.
Now let's go to Toro, a region where Tinta de Toro-a mutation of Tempranillo with a higher tannin content-reigns supreme.
We begin with an all-time classic produced by Bodegas Teso La Monja. Victorino 2014 is complex and luscious. Parker 93.
Our second wine is one of the region's best kept secrets: San Román 2013 by Bodegas Maurodos. Parker 93.
Finally, Matsu El Viejo 2014, Parker 90, is a radical wine made following biodynamic principles by Bodega Matsu.
Until our next post,
Enjoy wine-and let it breathe.
