MIDSUMMER SPARKLING WINES

The Summer Solstice is here. In our mind, there is no better way to celebrate the beginning of summer than by opening a bottle of wine.

So, here is a selection of 8 unique sparkling wines that will bring a magic touch to our summer nights.

Let's start with 3 rosé sparkling wines, unconventional and seductive.

From the Garraf massif, a subzone belonging to Penedès DO, Clos Lentiscus Sumoll Reserva Familia is an organic single varietal Sumoll, a native Catalan variety with an exceptional freshness and acidity.

A blend of Monastrell & GrenacheTorelló Rosé Brut Reserva 2011 conveys all the flair and excitement of a dreamy Mediterranean beach.

A premium Cava that winks to France, Bertha S.XXI Brut Rosé 2010 is a nice single varietal Pinot Noir.

Speaking of France, why not try two excellent Champagnes?

For instance, Bollinger Special Cuvée Brut, always at Her Majesty's service.

Or the delicious Henri Abelé Limited Edition Millesimé 08, blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir with a very chic packaging.

Spain cannot compete with France in terms of glamour. However, when it comes to the quality of the sparkling wines both produce the competition becomes fierce. Here are some proofs.

An amazing value, Juvé i Camps Milesimé Brut Reserva 2014 is an unimpeachable, creamy Chardonnay.

The vibrant Torelló 3D by Custo-Barcelona Brut Gran Reserva 2008 is a delightful blend of Macabeo and Xarel·lo with an uber-cool bottle that simply screams "let's party!"

On a more traditional, but no less interesting wavelength, AT Roca Esparter 2013 is an organic varietal Macabeo aged in oak which is perfect to accompany a whole meal.

One of the summits of Cava, Llopart Original 1887 is made from Montònega, a rare local variety that imparts a unique aromatic profile to the wine.

Until our next post,

Enjoy wine - and let it breathe.
