Product Description
Details

A bold expression of the Grenache variety, Breca comes from the rugged mountains of Calatayud, Aragón.

This varietal Spanish red wine is produced from old grapevines planted between 1925 and 1945 in very poor soils. The vineyards are located at an altitude of 900 metres above sea level, and they are subject to severe climatic conditions, with great temperature differences between daytime and nighttime.

Manually harvested, the grapes were selected at the vineyard and also in the facilities of Bodegas Breca, a branch of the Jorge Ordóñez group.

Then this red wine from Calatayud was fermented and macerated for 12 days in stainless steel tanks.

After that, Breca 2019 was aged in French oak barrels for 15 months. It was bottled unfined.

We suggest that you decant this Crianza red wine a minimum of 30 minutes before you drink it.

Appearance

The red wine Breca is medium purple with a ruby rim.

Nose

Deep and dramatic, this old-vines Grenache brings intense aromas of ripe red fruit, with hints of vanilla, cinnamon, cocoa and moka. As it opens, the wine evolves into violets and some liquorice undertones and deep mineral remembrances.

Palate

Meaty, intense and yummy, this red wine from Bodegas Breca has layers of flavour, with wild berries, dark chocolate and liquor-infused fruit. Great tension and good acidity, with ripe tannins and a long, spicy finish with, again, some earthy and mineral undertones.

Our personal opinion

A rugged delight, Breca 2019 is a vibrant wine from the cradle of Grenache.
