Details

One of the first wineries to grow Petit Verdot in Spain, bodega Casa de la Ermita from the DO Jumilla is the producer of the wine Casa de la Ermita Petit Verdot.

The grapes were picked up by hand and selected on site, and then they were cold macerated for some days before fermenting in stainless steel tanks. This Spanish red wine fermented for 15 to 20 days, and after that it was transferred into French oak barrels.

After that, the red wine Casa de la Ermita Petit Verdot 2021 completed malolactic fermentation and was aged in the barrels for 12 months.

This varietal Crianza red wine is characterful, lively and elegant.

We suggest that you decant this red wine from Jumilla 30 minutes before drinking.

Appearance

The red wine Casa de la Ermita Petit Verdot is deep ruby with a garnet rim.

Nose

Elegant and richly layered, this wine is really fresh, with plenty of balsamic and herbal nuances, juicy black fruit, and notes of spices, toast and flowers. This Petit Verdot is rich and expressive.

Palate

Bold and full-bodied, this wine of Casa de la Ermita has a crisp acidity, with grippy tannins - one of the features of this Bordeaux-native variety - and a seamless combination of fruit and oak. Finish is long and complex, with a characteristic bitter note.

Our personal opinion

The wine Casa de la Ermita Petit Verdot 2021 proves that the finicky Petit Verdot variety has successfully adapted to the region of Jumilla.
