Coming from DO Toro, the wine Celsus is produced by Bodegas Vetus, a brand of Grupo Artevins.
This varietal Spanish red wine is made from Tinta de Toro over 100-year-old vines sourced entirely from Finca Camparrón, a 1.3-hectare vineyard composed of sandy loam soils and located at an altitude of 700 metres above sea level.
Harvested by hand, the grapes were carefully destemmed and fermented in 3,000-litre stainless steel tanks. After that, this Crianza red wine was transferred into 500-litre French oak barrels.
There, the wine Celsus 2020 completed malolactic fermentation and was aged for a period of 14 months. It was neither filtered nor clarified before being bottled on June 5th 2022.

Nose | This is an impressive Tinta de Toro red wine. Notes of blueberries and mulberries, along with notions of cedar, cardamom, coffee, chocolate, undergrowth and violets over a mineral and earthy background. Impressively complex. |
Palate | Meaty and unctuous, but showing a distinctive freshness. This wine from Bodega Vetus carries some tightly packed fruit will take some time to loosen up. Nevertheless, there is already a real sense of place and an excellent definition. Slightly dry tannins, rock-solid acidity and a long, very persistent finish with notes of cocoa, spices, flowers and ripe black fruit, nuanced by some earthy overtones. |
