Product Description
Details

This seductive Spanish red wine from Priorat is mainly made from two international varieties, namely Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, coming from over 25-year-old grapevines. The blend is completed with small amounts old-vines Grenache, Carignan and Picapoll Negre.

Produced by Clos Dominic, the wine Clos Dominic Vinyes Baixes is made from estate vineyards with decomposed slate (llicorella) soils in Finca La Tena, a scenic natural amphitheatre close to the town of Porrera.

Harvested by hand and traditionally vinified, this Priorat red wine was aged for 16 months in French oak barrels.

Prior to its bottling, this Crianza red wine was delicately filtered, and then aged for a further months in the cellar before its release.

We suggest that you decant the wine Clos Dominic Vinyes Baixes 2021 for at least 30 minutes, so the wine can begin to unfold.

Appearance

The red wine Clos Dominic Vinyes Baixes is medium purple with a garnet rim.

Nose

This blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Carignan and Picapoll Negre is quite impressive. Enticing aromas of wild berries, gently wrapped by notions of toast, Jamaican pepper, vanilla, balsam, menthol and aniseed. Later, we perceive notes of tobacco, toffee and, all along the way, some deep mineral undertones.

Palate

Smoother than one might think, this wine of Clos Dominic also has a very solid skeleton and ripe, yummy tannins. Fruit is of great quality, and the notions of spices, balsam and underbush add complexity to the wine. This Crianza red wine has a savoury acidity and a long, mineral finish.

Our personal opinion

A sensational, reasonably priced Priorat, the wine Clos Dominic Vinyes Baixes 2021 delivers immense pleasure.

Traditional-style Priorat, full of character and very intense. You can almost lick the stones here. Very nice.
