Red Wine Coca i Fitó 2013
Availability: In stock
This is the flagship Spanish red wine of celler Coca i Fitó, a winery based in Montsant.
It is made from old-vines Carignan and Grenache, coming from vines 60 to 70 years of age, and some Syrah, sorted from younger vines.
The distinctive character of Coca i Fitó comes from the fact that the grapevines are planted in limestone soils. They are located in the Falset valley, an area with a Mediterranean climate.
After a traditional vinification, this Crianza red wine was aged for 14 months in 90% new French oak and 10% American oak barrels. It was fined before bottling.
This wine is bold and expressive, and it requires aeration to fully display its qualities.
Thus, we sugggest that you decant Coca i Fitó 2013 a minimum of 1 hour before drinking.
Production around 6,000 bottles.
Appearance | The red wine Coca i Fitó has an intense violet colour with a bluish rim. |

Nose | Subtle notes of ripe cherries, blackberries and plums, combined with aromas of liquorice, toast, cedar, menthol and cocoa. On the background, this blend of Syrah, Carignan and Grenache suggests some earthy nuances and a note of Mediterranean underbrush. |
Palate | Balance is the word here. This wine of the Coca i Fitó winery is round, deep and supple, with a smooth texture and a nice complexity. Pure notions of fruit, hints of flowers and spices and a seductive minerality. Excellent acidity, mild tannins and long finish. |
Our personal opinion | Round, elegant, judiciously aged, Coca i Fitó 2013 successfully combines subtlety and boldness. |
