Details

The wine Comalats Marquesa is a highly original natural orange wine from DO Pla de Bages, in central Catalonia. There, a white wine produced macerating the white grapes with the skins is called a brisat wine.

Sourced from young vineyards, this varietal Picapoll was first kept for 5 days with the skins in concrete diposits. After that, the white wine Comalats Marquesa 2023 of the Celler Comalats winery was fermented in clay recipients. This natural wine was not aged in wood in order to preserve its distinctive character.

Finally, this white wine from Pla de Bages was bottled with no added sulfites.

Appearance

The wine Comalats Marquesa is pale salmon with some orange-coloured reflections.

Nose

Seamlessly merging rusticity and sophistication, this varietal Picapoll carries aromas of curry, rooibos and quince jelly, with a note of pear and marzipan and a citrusy hint.

Palate

Bursting with tannic energy, this wine of bodega Comalats is refreshing and immediate, with some spicy suggestions and a medium-long finish reminiscent of bright peach fruit and baked apples.

Our personal opinion

The wine Comalats Marquesa 2023 takes the indigenous approach to the next level. A path-breaker.
