Details

We are happy to bring you the new vintage of the red wine Corimbo I from Bodegas La Horra, the project of the Rioja-based Bodegas Roda in Ribera del Duero.

Made from Tinta del País (Tempranillo), this varietal Spanish red wine is sourced from over 40-year-old vines grown at an altitude over 800 metres above sea level, in the villages of Roa and La Horra, Burgos.

The meticulous harvest was followed by a pre-fermentation maceration. The following alcoholic fermentation took place in wooden vats. Later, this red wine from Ribera del Duero was transferred into wooden barrels to complete malolactic fermentation.

After that, the red wine Corimbo I 2016 was aged for 16 months in 80% French and 20% American oak barrels. Before being bottled, it was blended and aged for a further 6 months in wooden vats.

Finally, this Crianza red wine was aged for some years in the bottle before its release.

Decant 1 hour before drinking.

Additional Information
Appearance

The red wine Corimbo I is medium purple with a garnet hue on the rim.

Nose
Characteristic and elegant, this varietal Tinta del País suggests aromas of ripe black fruit and hints of black currant liqueur which slowly evolve into chocolate, Havanna cigars, oak and spices. The mineral undertones are more conspicuous and livelier than in previous vintages, nuanced by a clear note of undergrowth.
Palate

This wine from Bodegas La Horra has some grippy tannins and a taut acidity that promises a long life ahead. The palate is quite complex and stratified, with notes of chocolate and black fruit along with hints of cedar, incense and fine leather. Some background flavours of herbs and dry undergrowth. Long finish with an earthy, mineral aftertaste.

Our personal opinion

The red wine Corimbo I 16 should evolve nicely in the bottle, and it may become one of the jewels of your cellar.
