The Celler del Roure winery, headed by famed winemaker Pablo Calatayud, is pioneering the recovery of long-forgotten indigenous grape varieties in the region of Valencia.
A fine example of that effort is the wine Cullerot. Made from a blend of Pedro Ximénez, Macabeo, Verdil, Malvasía and Merseguera, this is a truly unique Spanish white wine.
The grapes were handpicked, carefully selected and destemmed. Then 80% of them were gently crushed, while the other 20% were macerated with the skins for 5 days.
The alcoholic fermentation of the wine Cullerot 2023 was carried out in buried clay vessels (60%) and stainless steel tanks (40%), always in contact with the lees.
Then this white wine from Valencia was put back into the vessels and aged for 6 months
50,000 bottles produced.
Pair with tuna recipes, shrimp and fish dishes.
Appearance | The white wine Cullerot is deep straw with golden tinges. |
---|---|
Nose | Fresh notes of white fruit, with notions of white flowers, lime and herbs. This blend of Pedro Ximénez, Macabeo, Verdil, Malvasía and Merseguera also suggests remembrances of garrigue over a subtle mineral background. |
Palate | This white wine from the Celler del Roure winery is crisp and slightly creamy, with good balance and a lively acidity. Long finish with a note of citrus, flowers and balsam. |
Our personal opinion | A highly characteristic blend of indigenous and international grape varieties, the white wine Cullerot 2023 really deserves a try. |
