Red Wine Culmen Reserva 2019
Reserva red wine from La Rioja. Blend of Tempranillo and Graciano aged for 22 months in French oak barrels and for 24 months in the bottle.
Availability: In stock
The top-shelf bottle of Bodegas Lan, the wine Culmen Reserva is made from a traditional blend of mostly Tempranillo and a small amount of Graciano.
The grapes are sourced from low-yielding bushvines over 60 years old, the oldest of the Bodegas Lan estate. They are planted in Pago El Rincón, a gently sloped vineyard with cobble soils at 490 metres of altitude.
Once in the cellar, the grapes were selected on a sorting table and fermented in small truncated cone-shaped stainless steel tanks under controlled temperature.
After that, the red wine Culmen Reserva 2019 went through malolactic fermentation in extra fine-grained Allier and Tronçais French oak barrels, where it was subsequently aged for 22 months.
Finally, this red wine from La Rioja was bottled and aged for another 24 months before being released onto the market.
Pair this Reserva red wine with game recipes, roasts, casseroles and cured cheese.
Decant 1 hour before drinking, at the very least.
Appearance | The red wine Culmen Reserva is deep ruby with some violet reflections. |

Nose | Impressively complex and nuanced, this blend of Tempranillo and Graciano brings loads of damson, boysenberries and bilberries, with a panoply of spices -cinnamon, vanilla, cedar, nutmeg, clove- evolving into black pepper, sandalwood and flowers, with deep mineral and earthy intimations. |
Palate | Full-bodied and layered, with impressive focus and detail. This wine of Bodegas Lan is balsamic and earthy, with remarkable tannic structure, terrific acidity and a layer of forest berries underscored by some tobacco, leather and fresh herbs, all the way to a very long, gently mineral finish. |
Our personal opinion | The red wine Culmen Reserva 2019 is an absolutely first-rate Rioja. Truly world-class. |
