Red Wine Cune Imperial Gran Reserva 2017
Availability: In stock
An absolute classic from La Rioja, the wine Cune Imperial Gran Reserva just keeps getting better with each vintage.
Over the last years, the winery has gradually cut down on the use of oak, a decision which has improved the quality of this Spanish red wine.
This blended Gran reserva red wine is made from 85% Tempranillo, 10% Graciano and 5% Mazuela (Carignan) all coming from estate vineyards located in the cooler, higher-altitude zone of La Rioja Alta.
Crafted by the prestigious Cvne winery (acronym of Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España), the grapes of were meticulously harvested and cold-macerated. Alcoholic fermentation took place in French oak vats, while malolactic fermentation was completed in concrete diposits.
After that, the red wine Cune Imperial Gran Reserva 2017 was aged for 24 months in 70% French and 30% American oak barrels, new and 2nd year, with 3 rackings during the process. Finally, this vegan wine was clarified with egg whites and aged for some years in the bottle before its release.
Decant this superb red wine from Rioja 1 hour before drinking.
Appearance | The red wine Cune Imperial Gran Reserva is medium ruby red with a brick red rim. |
---|---|
Nose | Elegance, subtlety and mild intensity. This classic blend of Tempranillo, Graciano and Mazuela exhibits a very seductive balance between ripe berry fruits, hints of liquorice and delightful notes of Jamaica pepper. We also find subtle aromas of oak ageing: delicate notes of cinnamon, Tahitian vanilla and a light touch of cedar wood. |
Palate | This wine from Bodega CVNE is elegant, gently spicy and nicely textured, with velvety tannins, a bright acidity and a good persistence. Earthy notes, dark fruit, withered leaves and a long aftertaste which is neither melancholic nor autumnal, but rather uplifting. |
Our personal opinion | The red wine Cune Imperial Gran Reserva 2017 is the perfect wine for a dinner party. Gather a few friends, serve the wine in your best glasses and enjoy it! |
