Produced by famed winemaker Telmo Rodríguez, the wine Dehesa Gago is one of the few unwooded reds from DO Toro.
Made solely from Tinta de Toro grapes, this Spanish red wine is sourced from old vineyards owned by 8 local winegrowing families, who have been collaborating with Mr. Rodríguez for over 25 years. The vines are planted on sandy soils with very low levels of organic matter.
This varietal red wine from Toro fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks. A transparent expression of the Toro terroir, the red wine Dehesa Gago 2022 was aged in the tanks for 6 months and saw no wood before being bottled.
This wine will make a nice pairing with BBQ’d meat and tapas.
Appearance | The red wine Dehesa Gago is medium purple with some ruby reflections. |

Nose | While honouring it, this varietal Tinta de Toro takes the concept of “peasant wine” to the next level. Forest berries and wild herbs, with a mineral twist and hints of liquorice. |
Palate | This wine by Telmo Rodríguez is honest and straightforward, with rewarding freshness, crunchy tannins and a lively acidity. It has the concentration one expects from a Toro wine, combined with an uncommon agility. Long finish with some herbal and berryish remembrances. |
Our personal opinion | The wine Dehesa Gago 2022 is a fresh, inviting red Toro. |
