Details

First produced in 1986, this high-end Spanish red wine is a modern La Rioja classic crafted by the Marqués de Riscal winery.

Originally, the idea behind Barón de Chirel Reserva was to craft a first-class, modern-style product from the oldest vines of the winery.

The wine is mainly produced from Tempranillo, complemented by other red varieties, as it is customary in the region. The vines, 80 to over 110 years old, are located in Elciego and Laguardia, between 450 and 550 metros above sea level.

Made only in exceptional vintages, the grapes were harvested by hand and vinified in French wooden vats. Malolactic fermentation took place in fine-grained French oak vats, after which this Reserva red wine was transferred into Allier oak barrels and aged for 16 months.

Finally, the wine was aged for a minimum of two years in the bottle prior to its release.

Decant the red wine Barón de Chirel Reserva 2019 1 hour minimum before drinking.

This Rioja red wine has a remarkable ageing potential.
