Sweet Wine Dolç de Mendoza 2013
Availability: In stock
To produce this sweet red wine, the Enrique Mendoza winery carries out a meticulous selection of the fruit.
Coming from the DO Alicante, Dolç de Mendoza is made from naturally overripen grapes. They were not afected, however, by the so-called "noble rot".
It is made from a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Pinot Noir harvested at the beginning of December.
Destemmed and gently crushed, they were fermented in stainless steel tanks.
Once they reached a 14% alcohol level, fermentation was stopped to preserve the remaining sugar, thus giving the wine a naturally sweet flavour.
Then Dolç de Mendoza 2013 was aged for 10 months in 500-litre French oak barrels from Allier.
It was not clarified or filtered prior to its bottling. Drink this Alicante sweet wine until 2025.
Appearance | The naturally sweet wine Dolç de Mendoza has an intense, dark cherry colour with a violet rim. |
---|---|
Nose | Remarkably intense, this sweet red wine by Enrique Mendoza conveys some deep aromas of black and red fruit and jammy wild berries, with remembrances of bitter chocolate, blue flowers, and dim notes of toast and spices over a balsamic and smokey background. |
Palate | Lively and fresh, the remarkable acidity of Dolç de Mendoza prevents it from being oversweet. Delicious remembrances of toast, balsam, clove and cinnamon, combined with pure notes of red fruit and touches of cigars, leather and toast. Mild tannins and extremely long, smooth finish. |
Our personal opinion | Pair the excellent Dolç de Mendoza 2013 with foie, blue cheeses or, if you feel adventurous, with a chocolate dessert. Simply exquisite. |
