The wine Dominio de Atauta Valdegatiles is one of the bottlings of the Single Vineyard collection of Dominio de Atauta, one of Ribera del Duero's most interesting and terroir-driven projects.
This varietal Spanish red wine is sourced from a 1.09 ha vineyard composed of clay soils on top of a decomposed limestone bedrock. Sitting at 950 metres of altitude, this exceptional vineyard is planted with pre-phylloxera vines of Tinto Fino 130 years old on average (!!). The farming procedures implemented by the wine follow the tenets of biodynamic agriculture.
The grapes were hand-picked, selected and destemmed. This red wine from Ribera del Duero was fermented in stainless steel tanks, after which it completed the malo in 2nd year French oak barrels.
Then this single vineyard red wine was aged for 18 months in the barrels. Finally, the wine Dominio de Atauta Valdegatiles 2018 was bottled in June 2020 and kept in the cellar for some years before hitting the market.
