Red Wine Doumia 2020
Availability: In stock
It is well known that DO Rías Baixas, like the rest of Galicia, is a land of great white wines. What is less well known, though, is that the region produces some very interesting red wines as well.
Crafted by Francisco Alfonso Reboreda, chief winemaker of Bodega Adega Pedralonga, DoUmia is a delightfully unconventional Spanish red wine.
Totally indigenous, this red wine from Rías Baixas is made from a blend of Mencía (60%), Caíño Tinto (30%) and Espadeiro (10%).
Handpicked and cold-soaked, the grapes were fermented in stainless steel tanks and subsequently aged on its lees for between 9 and 12 months.
The result is DoUmia 2020, a definitely Atlantic, fresh and crunchy wine.
Appearance | The red wine DoUmia is pale purple with a ruby-violet rim. |

Nose | This blend of Mencía, Caíño & Espadeiro begins with subtle notes of menthol and fine wood, followed by tobacco and dried flowers. Then the fruit slowly appears, with aromas of tangerine and citrus over a mineral background, with hints of eucalyptus, dry bay, wet undergrowth. |
Palate | This red wine from Adega Pedralonga is agile and lively, with some savoury tannins and a backbone of acidity that makes it tremendously fresh. The palate carries flavours of red fruit, spicebox and citrus, with some dried vegetables and deep mineral undertones. Long finish with a saline and balsamic aftertaste. |
Our personal opinion | We invite you to explore the world of Galicia's indigenous red grapes with DoUmia 2020. A wine which, among other things, demonstrates the amazing diversity of the Spanish wine geography. |
