Red Wine Edra Sol 2019
Availability: In stock
The wine Edra Sol, formerly known as Edra Syrah-Merlot, is made by the Edra Bodega y Viñedos winery. Started in 1999 by the enologist Alejandro Ascaso, the wines come from the little-known designation of VT Ribera del Gállegos- Cinco Villas.
The Syrah and Merlot grapes of this Spanish red wine are sourced from vineyards located in Ayerbe, in the pre-Pyrenees region of Hoya de Huesca, Aragón. These grapevines are planted at over 550 meters above sea level, in clay and limestone soils which provide for excellent drainage.
The selected grapes of the wine Edra Sol 2019 were first pre-macerated. After completing alcoholic and malolactic fermentation, each variety was aged separately for 8 months in French and American oak barrels. During this ageing process, several pump-overs were performed to increase the creaminess and roundness of the wine.
Pair this red wine from Aragón with meat recipes.
Appearance | The wine Edra Sol is medium purple with bright garnet toned edges. |

Nose | Elegant and smooth aromas of exotic spices, cocoa, and coffee, alongside some caramel and toffee notes. The fruit aromas of this blend of Syrah and Merlot remain in the background, combined with some remembrances of herbs. |
Palate | The entrance onto the palate of this wine by Edra Bodega y Viñedos is sweet and enveloping, with a pleasant meatiness. This wine has an expressive passage, with very well-integrated tannins, nearly unnoticeable. Well-balanced acidity, with a pleasant and persistent finish with remembrances of spices and toast. |
Our personal opinion | A blend which highlights the virtues of oak ageing, the wine Edra Sol 2019 is a good value. |
