We are proud to present the 2016 vintage of the wine Finca Morenillo. This is not only the flagship Spanish red wine from bodega Celler Piñol, but also one of the most interesting wines from DO Terra Alta.

The wine is a varietal Morenillo, an indigenous variety that was on the verge of extinction not many years ago, and which is currently in the process of being recovered for wine production.

Located at an altitude of 450 metres above sea level, the over 100-year-old Morenillo vines are grown in clay-limestone soils with very low levels of organic matter.

The grapes were harvested in late October. Meticulously selected in the cellar, they were fermented in stainless steel tanks and subsequently transferred into new 500-litre French oak barrels, where the wine Finca Morenillo 2016 was aged for 15 months.

After that, the wine was bottled and aged for a further 12 months.

This is a scarce, small-production wine with a unique personality.

Pair this red wine from Terra Alta with hearty recipes.
