Details
Produced by Francisco Barona, a prestigious winemaker from DO Ribera del Duero, Francisco Barona is a quite remarkable Spanish red wine.
It is mostly made from very old-vines Tinto Fino (Tempranillo), complemented with Grenache, the native white variety Albillo and other varieties indigenous to the region, sourced sourced from vineyards planted from 1908 to 1948 in the towns of Roa, La Horra, Anguix and La Aguilera.
The grapes were vinified with the utmost care using minimal intervention techniques. Alcoholic fermentation of this red wine from Ribera del Duero occurred spontaneously in diposits, and it was followed by a spontaneous malolactic fermentation, this time in new French oak barrels.
After that, the red wine Francisco Barona 2022 was aged for 14 months in the barrels. It was bottled unfined and unfiltered in March 2024.
This premium Crianza red wine should evolve nicely in the bottle.
