Red Wine Goliardo Loureiro 2019
Availability: In stock
One of the bottlings of the Tintos de Mar collection of bodega Forjas del Salnés, Goliardo Loureiro is a varietal Spanish red wine produced by Rodrigo Méndez and the one and only Raúl Pérez in DO Rías Baixas.
It is made exclusively from Loureiro, a rare native variety which has been recovered and put back into wine production by a small group of Galician wineries.
Hand-harvested at their optimal ripening state, the grapes were fully destemmed on arriving at the cellar. Alcoholic fermentation was carried out in stainless steel tanks, and then this red wine from Rías Baixas was transferred into 3rd and 4th year French oak barrels.
After that, Goliardo Loureiro 2019 was aged for 12 months in the barrels. Finally, the wine was aged for some time in the bottle before being released onto the market.
This utterly Atlantic Crianza red wine will make an excellent pairing with meat rice dishes, cold cuts and cured cheeses.
Bear in mind that this wine opens tight. Decant this Galician red wine at least 30 minutes before drinking.
Very limited availability.
Appearance | The red wine Goliardo Loureiro is medium ruby with a violet rim. |

Nose | This varietal Loureiro is simply captivating. Withered flowers, blackcurrants and bilberries, with a liquorice note, some mineral and vegetal remembrances, and some spicy and toasted aromas. |
Palate | This wine of the Forjas del Salnés winery has grip, focus and the kind of acidity one usually finds in northern wines. Linear, savoury and humming with energy, with slightly rugged tannins, a distinctively saline note and a long finish reminiscent of black fruit and balsam. |
Our personal opinion | The wine Goliardo Loureiro 2019 proves that the red wines from Galicia are every bit as interesting as the white wines. |
