Details
The red wine Ianvs 1 is one of the two debut releases of Ianvs Vins, a new wine project headed by Rubén Talavan and Sascha Koch, both with a long experience in the wine trade. This minimal intervention red wine is the result of the collaboration between Ianvs Vins and Celler Arrelats, one of the most promising wineries in the Terra Alta region, in southwestern Catalonia.
Coming in a 1 liter bottle, this decidedly unique Spanish red wine is made basically from Grenache, with a smidgen of White Grenache (5%) to spice it up. The grapes were sourced from 60-year-old vineyards grown in panal (limestone rich) soils near the village of Gandesa, Tarragona.
Hand-picked on August 15th, the grapes were spontaneously fermented in stainless tanks with 10% stems and macerated for 8 days with the skins. After undergoing a spontaneous malolactic fermentation, the red wine Ianvs 1 2023 was aged in the tanks until it was bottled on January 28th 2024.
This young red wine is only 10.7% ABV and has a very low sulfur content (9 mg/liter).
The 1 liter bottle makes it perfect for sharing with friends.
