Details

Formerly known as Juan Gil 18 Meses, the wine Juan Gil Etiqueta Azul (Blue Label) is produced in DO Jumilla.

Made principally from old-vines Monastrell (60%) coming from vineyards grown at altitudes between 700 and 800 metres, this Spanish red wine is complemented with 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Syrah.

This blended red wine from Jumilla is produced from certified organic estate vineyards with different kinds of soils. Separately harvested and vinified depending on its plot of origin, the grapes completed alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks.

Malolactic fermentation of this certified vegan wine took plance in new French and American oak barrels. Once completed, the wine Juan Gil Etiqueta Azul 2022 was aged for 18 months.

Be sure to aerate this Crianza red wine from bodega Juan Gil at least 30 minutes before drinking.

Pair this vegan wine with hearty dishes.

Appearance

The red wine Juan Gil Etiqueta Azul is deep ruby with a garnet rim.

Nose

Bold and confident, this blend of Monastrell, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah displays complex notes of toast and spices that slowly evolve into notes of blackcurrants, blueberries and violets, with some creamy nuances. This vegan wine also suggests hints of coffee, Havanna cigars, and remembrances of Mediterranean garrigue.

Palate

This wine from Juan Gil is, no doubt, full-bodied and brooding. However, it has a fantastic acidity, while also displaying considerable nuance. Ripe tannins, a spicy core and a long, complex finish with remembrances of garrigue, dry earth and sour forest berries.

Our personal opinion

Suggestive, rich and age-worthy, the wine Juan Gil Etiqueta Azul 2022 is the perfect accompaniment to hearty dishes.

Great 2020 wine year
Value
I've been drinking this wine quite a few years and its quality is always very good and constant, just like this 2020 year. They're doing a great job at Juan Gil's!

Less and less oaky over the last years. Big body, but ripped fat-free. Quite a wine, you know.

A personal favorite

Big wine, deep and concentrated. It is already very good, but in my view it still needs a couple of years to get rid of the baby fat completely. Top winery.
