White Wine La Caña Navia 2019
Availability: In stock
This is the new vintage of La Caña Navia, arguably one of Jorge Ordóñez's most refined creations.
Produced by Bodega La Cana, this Spanish white wine is made from Galicia's flagship white variety: Albariño.
The organically grown grapes come from 2 vineyards 1 hectare each, planted between 1970 and 1978 in high-acidic soils composed of sand and limestone. The vineyards are located in the Salnés valley, in DO Rías Baixas.
Manually harvested and selected both at the vineyard and in the cellar, the must was fermented in 500 and 600-litre French oak barrels, where this Crianza white wine was also aged for 12 months on its lees.
After its bottling, La Caña Navia 2019 was further aged in the bottle for 12 months before its commercial release.
We suggest that you aerate this white wine from Rías Baixas 30 minutes before drinking.
Appearance | The white wine La Caña Navia is medium yellow with some steely tinges. |

Nose | Displaying a well-balanced complexity, this varietal Albariño shows notes of ripe white fruit, notably pears, dried apricots, sweet spices and some touches of liquorice. This white wine aged in oak is nuanced by some delicate notes of cinnamon and fennel, a background of aromatic herbs and a mineral core. |
Palate | A creamy and savoury white wine of Bodega La Cana, the notes of tropical fruit and citrus harmonize with some remembrances of vanilla and balsam. Well defined, with plenty of detail and a lush texture. This white wine from Jorge Ordóñez has a crisp, refreshing acidity and long, persistent finish with a salty touch. |
Our personal opinion | Age-worthy and really complex, La Caña Navia 2019 is superbly well-crafted. |
