Details

The wine La del Terreno Monastrell is produced by bodega La del Terreno, the personal project of Julia Casado, a young winemaker who in the space of just a few years has become one of the most respected natural wine producers in Spain.

This Spanish red wine is made from 95% Monastrell and a droplet of the white varieties Airén and Macabeo. They are sourced from small parcels with granitic soils located around 800 metres of altitude, in an area called La Cañada del Jinete, in Sierra de Lavia, south east Murcia, DO Bullas.

The non-destemmed grapes were foot-stomped, macerated with the skins and fermented with wild yeasts in concrete diposits and open wooden vats. After making the final blend, this red wine from Bullas went through malolactic fermentation and was aged in the diposits for a period for 8 months.

Finally, the red wine La del Terreno Monastrell 2020 was bottled unfiltered.

This is, so to speak, a undomesticated and primal version of what we know to be wine. It definitely deserves a try.

Decant this minimal intervention wine 30 minutes before drinking.
