Product Description
Details

The 2020 vintage of the wine Les Sorts Vinyes Velles is, as usual, made from a blend of old-vines Carignan (90%) and Grenache (10%).

First, the hand-picked grapes were meticulously selected on the sourcing table, and then they were vinified in stainless steel tanks.

After completing alcoholic fermentation, this Spanish red wine from DO Montsant went through malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels. Then this vegan wine was matured for 17 months in the barrels.

Finally, the wine Les Sorts Vinyes Velles 2020 was aged for 12 months minimum in the bottle before its release.

Decant this red wine from Montsant 1 hour before drinking.

Pair this Crianza red wine from Celler Masroig with hearty meat recipes.

Appearance

The red wine Les Sorts Vinyes Velles is deep ruby with a purple rim.

Nose

Cherries and blackberries, with nuances of toast, Mediterranean garrigue and spices. In the background, this blend of old-vines Carignan and Grenache insinuates a note of cocoa over a thriving, ever-pulsating mineral beat.

Palate

Gentler than one might imagine, with a distinctive freshness and a crisp, uplifting acidity, this red wine from Celler Masroig combines elegance and local character in an engaging way. Flavours of red and black fruit, nuanced by bitter chocolate, resin, aromatic herbs, dry earth and some mineral remembrances. Crunchy tannins and long finish.

Our personal opinion

An astounding value, the wine Les Sorts Vinyes Velles 2020 will pair extremely well with meats such as grilled lamb chops and a roast suckling pig.

Yes, Montsant IS the real thing. This was chosen Official Wine of the region, and it is not easy to understand why. It is a beautifully made wine, tremendously expressive, age-worthy and completely unpretentious. I read somewhere that 2013 was a superb vintage, so there you have it.
