Champagne Louis Roederer Cristal 2014
Availability: Out of stock
A legendary Champagne, Louis Roederer Cristal is made from a blend of Grand Cru grapes grown in the Reims Mountain, the Marne Valley and the Côte des Blancs.
The 2014 vintage was sourced from 39 of the 45 parcels owned by Maison Louis Roederer in the Champagne region. This Gran Reserve Champagne is made from 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay.
After a meticulous harvest, one-fifth of the wine was vinified in wooden vats, and the rest was vinified in stainless steel tanks.
Secondary fermentation took place in the bottle, after which Louis Roederer Cristal 2014 was aged for 5 years. Then the wine was disgorged and aged for a further 8 months in the cellar.
Only made in exceptional vintages, Cristal of Louis Roederer was first produced in 1876 for Alexander II, tsar of Russia.
History has it that, by request of the autocratic monarch, the Maison Roederer provided a transparent, flat-bottomed bottle to ensure that neither poison nor an explosive artifact could be hidden either inside or outside it.
