Made from vineyards over 45 years old, Luis Cañas Selección de la Familia Reserva is one of the top-shelf wines of the Luis Cañas winery.
Made mostly from Tempranillo (85%), this Spanish red wine is complemented with a 15% of Cabernet Sauvignon.
Once destemmed, they were cold-macerated and fermented at a low temperature in stainless steel tanks.
Then this Reserva red wine from La Rioja was transferred into French and American oak barrels, where it completed malolactic fermentation and was aged for 20 months.
Finally, Luis Cañas Selección de la Familia Reserva 2018 was delicately filtered and aged for a further 24 months in the cellar.

| Palate | Juicy notes of bilberries, cassis and raspberries, combined with notes of liquorice, bitter chocolate, black truffles and Eastern spices. This red wine of the Luis Cañas winery is meaty and smooth, with some lively tannins, a very good acidity, and a long finish with some toasted hints and slightly bitter notes. |

Lewis Canas
I put this side by side with Roda and the likes. Not for the faint-hearted. It has power, impulse and it speaks with a clear voice. Top Rioja for me.
