Red Wine Manyetes 2021
Reserva red wine from Priorat. Varietal Carignan aged for 12 months in oak barrels and for 8 months in demijohns.
Availability: In stock
Produced by legendary René Barbier, owner of Clos Mogador, the wine Manyetes is a varietal Carignan from DOQ Priorat. Nowadays, few would dispute that the region is the cradle of some the world's purest, deepest Carignan wines.
This single vineyard Spanish red wine is sourced from a 3.5-hectare parcel with slate soils located on the outskirts of Gratallops, at 350 metres of altitude. In order to survive there, the vines must endure extreme climatic conditions.
Picked by hand, the grapes were fermented with indigenous yeasts. After being draw-off, this Vi de Paratge was aged for 12 months in 600-litre European oak barrels and demijohns, after which the red wine Manyetes 2021 was aged for a further 8 months in demijohns.
Bottled in June 2023, this Reserva red wine was aged for 18 months minimum before hitting the market.
Decant at least 2 hours before drinking.
It is worth mentioning that the 2021 vintage was the rainiest in recent years, which gave this red wine from Priorat an uncommon freshness.
Extremely limited availability.
Appearance | The red wine Manyetes is medium purple with a violet rim. |

Nose | This varietal Carignan is really special. Petricor, Mediterranean garrigue, graphite and wild flowers, with hints of bitter cocoa, red berries and dim spicy notes. A quintessential Priorat nose if there ever was one. |
Palate | This wine of bodega Clos Mogador has phenomenal definition, real intricacy and, particularly in this 2021 vintage, amazing transparency and freshness. Great purity and lots of inner energy, with polished tannins and a very long finish, reminiscent of Mediterranean garrigue, flowers, cocoa and wet slate. |
Our personal opinion | Simply memorable, the wine Manyetes 2021 is a world-class Carignan. |
