Red Wine Marge 2019
Crianza red wine from Priorat. Blend of Grenache, Carignan, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah aged for 12 months in French and American oak barrels.
Availability: In stock
Produced by Celler de l’Encastell from the traditional varieties Grenache (the main component) and Carignan, the wine Marge is complemented with variable amounts of the international varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah.
Even more important than its composition, though, is the fact that this Spanish red wine comes from Priorat. Specifically, the grapes were sorted from two vineyards, Mas d'en Ferran i Els Arbres, both of which have the typical llicorella (slate) soils which give the region its distinctive personality.
The grapes were picked by hand and meticulously selected on arriving at the cellar. Then they were destemmed and macerated with the skins for 15 days. This Crianza red wine was afterwards fermented at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks, after which it completed malolactic fermentation. Finally, the red wine Marge 2019 was aged in French and American oak barrels for 12 months.
It is advisable to decant this Priorat red wine at least 20 minutes before drinking.
Appearance | The red wine Marge is cherry red with some maroon reflections. |

Nose | This blend of mainly Grenache, complemented with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot Carignan and Syrah is fresh, expressive and deeply mineral. Damascena cherries and redcurrants, with hints of cardamom and clove, some smokey nuances and brushstroke of bitter cocoa. |
Palate | Well-balanced and textured, this wine from Celler de l'Encastell shows an excellent balance between fruit and oak, which does not suffocate, but gently highlights the former. Round tannins, excellent acidity and long finish with a mineral note and some underbrush remembrances. |
Our personal opinion | Fresh and substantial, the wine Marge 2019 will pair excellently with casseroles and game dishes. |
