Details
The red wine MarLa Carinyenes Vi de Paratge is the top-shelf Spanish red wine of winemaker Sandra Doix, former oenologist of the prestigious Mas Doix winery. The sixth generation of the Doix family from Priorat, Mrs. Doix started her personal project in 2019.
This one-of-a-kind old-vines Carignan is sourced entirely from the lieu-dit Paratge Les Salanques, a family-owned 2.5 hectare plot with llicorella (slate) soils located near Poboleda, in DOQ Priorat’s freshest area. Because of that fact, this small-batch red wine bears the seal Vi de Paratge de Poboleda.
Planted in 1902 (!!), immediately after the devastation caused by the phylloxera plague, the Les Salanques vineyard is farmed with sustainable techniques, using animal traction and tooking into account the ancestral wisdom of the local vinegrowers.
The Carignan grapes were hand-picked and fermented in stainless steel tanks under controlled temperature. After that, this red wine from Priorat was aged for 12 months in French oak barrels.
Once bottled, the red wine MarLa Carinyenes Vi de Paratge 2020 was aged in the bottle for a significant amount of time before hitting the market.
It is of the essence to decant this Crianza red wine 3 hours before drinking, at least.
