Red Wine Martínez Lacuesta Hinia Reserva 2012
Reserva red wine from La Rioja. Traditional blend aged for 24 months in American oak barrels and for 6 years in the bottle.
Availability: In stock
A classic Spanish red wine from DOCa Rioja, Martínez Lacuesta Hinia Reserva is made essentially from Tempranillo, complemented with Graciano and Mazuela (the local name of Carignan).
The grapes were sourced from vineyards surrounding the premises of Bodega Martínez Lacuesta, located at 450 metres of altitude. Grown in clay-limestone soils peppered with marine fossils (locally called Hinia), the vines are over 40 years old.
Traditionally vinified, this Rioja red wine was spontaneously fermented in American oak barrels.
After that, Martínez Lacuesta Hinia Reserva 2012 was aged for 24 months in the barrels, during which period it was racked 6 times. The wine was bottled in 2016 and then aged for 6 years minimum before being released onto the market.
Aerate this Reserva red wine 1 hour before drinking.
Appearance | Clean and bright, the red wine Martínez Lacuesta Hinia Reserva is medium purple with a garnet rim. |

Nose | Deep, mature and quite complex, this blend of Tempranillo, Graciano and Mazuela carries aromas of sandalwood, leather and clove, with hints of mulberries and blackcurrants, some earthy and balsamic notes and notes of Havanna cigars. |
Palate | Savoury and layered, with a crisp acidity and tamed tannins. This wine of Bodega Martínez Lacuesta is an example of old school elegance, with remembrances of chocolate, toast and old wood. Long finish reminiscent of spices, balsam and dry earth. |
Our personal opinion | A wine of great noblesse, Martínez Lacuesta Hinia Reserva 2012 is a delightful traditional Rioja. |
