Product Description
Details

Made by Celler Cal Pla from vineyards around 35 years old, the wine Mas d’en Compte Blanc is a classically-styled, characterful Spanish white wine from DOQ Priorat.

The main component is White Grenache complemented with Picapoll Blanc and Xarel·lo. The vines are grown in the typical llicorella (slate) soils which have given worldwide fame to the region.

The grapes were harvested by hand and traditionally vinified in stainless steel tanks under controlled temperature.

After that, the white wine Mas d'en Compte Blanc 2020 was aged on lees for 9 months in 80% French and 20% Hungarian oak barrels.

Fruit-driven, gently mineral and even petrol-like after some years in the bottle, this white wine from Priorat is excellent with fish recipes, white meat dishes and creamy cheeses.

It is advisable to decant this white wine aged in oak some time before drinking.

Appearance

The white wine Mas d’en Compte Blanc is deep straw with some amber glints.

Nose

This blend of White Grenache, Picapoll Blanc and Xarel·lo is intricate, elegant and ever-evolving. Ripe white fruit and bone fruit, with some smokey, spicy and honey remembrances. The mineral background becomes more noticeable as time passes.

Palate

Creamy and savoury, this wine from Celler Cal Pla conveys some smokey and leesy remembrances, with a crisp acidity and a lush texture. Excellent balance and long finish with remembrances of aromatic herbs of some mineral intimations.

Our personal opinion

Elegant and moreish, the wine Mas d’en Compte Blanc 2020 is an irresistibly seductive Priorat white wine.

An excellent white Priorat
Value
White Priorat at its best. Yellow fruit, herbs and petrol, nicely structured with some impressive mineral notes intertwined with some spice and wooden notes.
