Red Wine Mather Teresina 2019
Availability: In stock
Produced in the southwestern Catalan region of Terra Alta, the wine Mather Teresina is produced by Celler Piñol.
This high-quality Spanish red wine red wine is made from a blend of Grenache, Carignan, and the long-forgotten and exceedingly interesting Morenillo, a native red variety.
The grapes are sourced from 45 to 75-year-old vines planted in very poor soils and located at an altitude of 450 metres above sea level.
Harvested by hand at their optimal ripening state, the grapes were selected twice and carefully destemmed. Then they were fermented in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. After that, this red wine form Terra Alta was transferred into French oak barrels, where it completed malolactic fermentation and was aged for 18 months.
Finally, this Reserva red wine was bottled and aged for a minimum of 2 years before its commercial release.
The red wine Mather Teresina 2019 is a truly Mediterranean vin de garde with a remarkable aging potential.
Decant a minimum of 1 hour before drinking.

Nose | Remarkably complex and characterful, this one-of-a-kind blend of Grenache, Carignan and Morenillo embodies a paradigm of Mediterranean elegance which, until very recently, had not yet been sufficiently explored by Spanish wine producers. Deep suggestions of smoke and minerality, segueing into pristine blackberries and cranberries, tips of black pepper, liquorice and coffee, and notes of flowers and aromatic herbs. |
Palate | Meaty and round, this red wine of Celler Piñol conveys a deep sense of terroir and a sort of understated, rustic charm. Dark chocolate, cherries, black olives, damson, flowers and aromatic herbs fill the palate. Finely crafted texture, detailed and nuanced, with a crisp, uplifting acidity and a very long, elegant finish. |
Our personal opinion | A real treat for inquisitive and demanding drinkers, the wine Mather Teresina 2019 is a little-known jewel from Terra Alta. |
