Irreverent and boundary-pushing, the attractively packaged whisky Natterjack Irish Whiskey – whimsically named after the only toad native to Ireland - combines the best of the Irish whiskey and American bourbon traditions.
Crafted by the Gortinore distillery, the joint project of four young entrepreneurs, this Irish whiskey is produced with a most unsual combination of corn (80%) and malted barley (20%).
After a meticulous fermentation, this corn and malt whiskey was distilled three times in copper stills. Subsequently, the whisky Natterjack Irish Whiskey was matured in ex-Bourbon American oak casks and virgin American oak barrels.
The resulting Irish Whiskey is medium gold coloured, with an amber hue on the rim. The aromatic profile is quite endearing, with rich notes of baked apples, ginger bread, cinnamon, fudge and cardamom. On the palate, the Natterjack whiskey is smooth and well-rounded, with remembrances of fine tobacco, cedar and spices, underpinned by some creamy and citrusy suggestions.
