Red Wine Negre de Negres 2021
Availability: In stock
A captivating Spanish red wine from DOQ Priorat, Negre de Negres is produced by the prestigious winemaker Alfredo Arribas.
The main component of this red wine from Priorat is Grenache, complemented with some Carignan and Syrah.
The small vineyards are located in the heart of Priorat, between the towns of El Lloar and Bellmunt, occupying the rugged terrain between the valley of Siurana river and the Montsant mountains. The organically farmed vines are planted at an altitude over 250 meters, in an area with a Mediterranean climate with continental characteristics. The soils are composed of black and red slate.
The harvest was done by hand. The half-destemmed grapes went through a short pre-fermentation maceration and then they were fermented with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks.
Subsequently, Negre de Negres 2021 was aged for 15 months in French oak vats, and also in new and mostly 2nd year French oak barrels. During the process, the wine was drawn-off once. Finally, it was bottle with only a slight clarification.
Decant this Crianza red wine a minimum of 1 hour before drinking.
Appearance | The red wine Negre de Negres is deep ruby with some violet tinges. |

Nose | This blend of Grenache, Carignan and Syrah has a fresh aromatic expression and a distinctive mineral character. Notes of ripe red and black fruit, combined with toasted nuances, spices and hints of thyme, rosemary and lavender; on the background, there is a touch of liquorice as well as some mineral remembrances, typical of Priorat. |
Palate | This wine from Clos del Portal of winemaker Alfredo Arribas is smooth, nuanced and textured. Flavours of cranberries, mulberries and damson, with notes of spices, coffee, and black chocolate. Silky tannins, steely acidity and long finish with some creamy and smokey suggestions and a mineral aftertaste. |
Our personal opinion | Right now, Negre de Negres 2021 is drinking excellently. However, this organic red wine will surely improve over the years, so it would be a good idea to store a couple of bottles to check its evolution. |
