Red Wine Numanthia 2019
Availability: In stock
After acquiring Bodegas Numanthia in 2008, the French group LVMH (Louis Vuitton Moet Henessy), the world's largest luxury goods conglomerate, decided to introduce some changes in the winemaking style of world-famous wine Numanthia.
While preserving its trademark intensity and lushness, the winemaking team, headed by Mr. Lucas Löwi, fine-tuned the vinification process over the years with the aim of producing a more elegant and harmonious wine. Their hard work has definitely paid off.
A varietal Tinta de Toro, this Spanish red wine from DO Toro is sourced from over 100 plots planted with 50 to 100-year-old vines, most of them ungrafted, grown in sandy-clay soils at an altitude of 700 metres.
Harvested by hand and meticulously selected, the partially destemmed grapes were fermented in stainless steel tanks with selected yeasts.
After completing malolactic fermentation, this red wine from Toro was transferred into 225 and 400-litre French oak barrels (60% new), where it was aged for a period of 18 months.
Gently filtered, the wine Numanthia 2019 was bottled and aged for a further 24 months before its commercial release.
In order to enjoy it to the fullest, it is essential to decant this Crianza red wine a minimum of 2 hours before you drink it.
Appearance | The red wine Numanthia is deep purple with a reddish and violet rim. |

Nose | This varietal Tinta de Toro feels fresher and livelier than ever before, with lively forest berries, some lactic touches and remembrances of dried flowers, slowly evolving into remembrances of fine spices, balsam, smoke, cocoa and dry earth. |
Palate | This red wine from Bodega Numanthia shows impressive finesse and remarkable balance, with plush tannins, a lively acidity and nicely integrated oak. Ripe and powerful for sure, but with an agility and freshness that reveal a different, largely unknown side of the bold Toro terroir. |
Our personal opinion | The impressive wine Numanthia 2019 should have a long life in the bottle. |
