Red Wine Nus del Terrer 2016
Availability: In stock
The flagship Spanish red wine of the Vinyes del Terrer winery, Nus del Terrer comes from DO Tarragona.
It is crafted from over 40-year-old Grenache vines (85%), complemented with a 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. They are cultivated in lumaquel·la soils peppered with marine fossils, which give the vines a distinctively mineral character.
The grapes were harvested by hand and preserved in chambers for 24 hours after being picked. Then they were separately vinified according to the variety, the age of the vines and their plot of origin. This red wine from Tarragona was first fermented in 5,000-litre French oak vats for 25 days and then macerated for some days.
After that, Nus del Terrer 2016 went through malolactic fermentation and was aged for 14 months in French oak barrels.
Decant this Crianza red wine 30 minutes before drinking.
Appearance | The red wine Nus del Terrer is deep ruby with some purple reflections. |
---|---|
Nose | High aromatic intensity. The Grenache provides sweet, juicy red fruit, which is nuanced by spices, coffee and cocoa, which present themselves well with hints of vegetables (big pulpy green vegetables from the Cabernet Sauvignon). There is also fresh balsamic background with an intense mineral remembrance. |
Palate | This wine from Vinyes del Terrer is rich and smooth-bodied, with flavours of ripe cherries and blueberries and hints of black pepper, tobacco and flowers. Good acidity and polished, yummy tannins. Long finish that leaves a sweet and pleasant aftertaste. |
Our personal opinion | Confidential and excellently crafted, Nus del Terrer 2016 deserves to be better known. |
