The wine Ostatu Menditto, formerly known as Ostatu Selección, is the calling card of bodega Ostatu from DOCa Rioja. It was the first Spanish red wine aged in oak made by the winery.
The grapes are sourced from 4 parcels planted between 1920 and 1961 in the easternmost area of Samaniego, Rioja Alavesa.
Made from Tempranillo (92%) and Graciano (8%), the grapes were destemmed and cold-macerated before fermenting in a small oak vat with mild pump-overs.
After that, a portion of this red wine from La Rioja went through malolactic fermentation in new French oak barrels, and the rest completed the process in the vats.
Then the red wine Ostatu Menditto 2019 was aged in new and 2nd year French oak barrels for 14 months.
Aerate this Crianza red wine 30 minutes before drinking.
