Details

One of Spain's absolute best varietal Albariño wines, and a world-class white wine in its own right, the wine Pazo Señorans Selección de Añada is produced from vineyards located near the village of Meis, in the Salnés county, DO Rías Baixas.

More specifically, the grapes are sourced from a vineyard at 300 metres of altitude close to the Atlantic coast. The average age of the vines, strategically planted in the lower course of a river, is 45 years. Soils are composed of "xabre", which is the Galician word for a type of decomposed granite.

This top-notch Spanish white wine from bodega Pazo de Señorans was crafted with the utmost care. The grapes were hand-harvested, transported to the cellar in little boxes, meticulously selected, macerated for a short time and vinified in stainless steel tanks.

After that, the wine Pazo Señorans Selección de Añada 2014 was aged on its lees for 30 months in the tanks.

Finally, this white wine from Rías Baixas was bottled in April 2023 and aged for a minimum of 12 months in the bottle before its commercial release.

The quality of this Crianza white wine has been recognized with numerous distinctions and awards, as well as with consistently high scores from senior wine critics.

14,000 bottles produced.

Appearance

The wine Pazo Señorans Selección de Añada is medium yellow with some golden and amber tinges.

Nose

Displaying a remarkable aromatic richness, this varietal Albariño goes far beyond the cliché of the tropical and yummy Albariño. Yes, there are hints of exotic fruit, but also dried apricots, quince, a hint of medlar and, most interestingly, some multi-layered mineral undertones and a salty, marine quality. This is deep, complex stuff.

Palate

This wine from Pazo de Señorans is opulent, textured and rich, but never weighty or flabby. Acidity, one of Albariño's strong points, gives the wine a wonderful tension and a tight, rock-solid structure. The palate suggests baked apples, cinnamon, citrus and white flowers. The texture is silky, and the wine has a long, exquisite finish with some remembrances of smoke, earth and wet stones.

Our personal opinion

Simply extraordinary, the wine Pazo Señorans Selección Añada 2014 is at the level of a Grand Cru Burgundy.

Best Albariño
Value
Spain's best Albariño? Amazingly textured, mature, very rich on the nose (laurel, green olives, fennel, petrol...) and intense on the palate, with superb acidity and real depth. Neverending finish.
