Details

Produced by bodega Pazo Tizón, the red wine Pazo Tizón Extramundi Tinto is basically made from Araúxa (the local variant of Tempranillo), with a smidgen of Mencía and Grenache.

This interesting Spanish red wine comes from a 2-hectare vineyard planted with vines around 15 years old, in DO Ribeiro.

Hand-harvested at dawn in 16 kg boxes, the grapes were meticulously sorted and then cold macerated and fermented in stainless steel tanks.

It is worth mentioning that Pazo Tizón Extramundi Tinto 2022 did not went through malolactic fermentation after completing alcoholic fermentation. With the aim of preserving its top-notch natural acidity and crunchy character, this red wine from Ribeiro was not aged in oak either.

Production around 8,000 bottles.

The red wine Pazo Tizón Extramundi Tinto is medium ruby with some reddish glints.

Nose

Quite lively, this blend of Araúxa (Tempranillo), Grenache and Mencía shows raspberries and cherries, with a hint of lime and herbs entwined with a floral and mineral note.

Palate

Balanced and very fresh, this red wine of bodega Pazo Tizón has a citrusy acidity, polished tannins and a lively core of sour cherry fruit combined with a note of herbs and cocoa, with a saline note in the ending.

Our personal opinion

Once again, the distinctive Pazo Tizón Extramundi Tinto 2022 shows that Galician reds are unlike any other red wines produced in Spain.
