Produced by superstar winemaker Telmo Rodríguez, the wine Pegaso Barrancos de Pizarra is an outstanding example of the magnificence of Garnacha de Gredos.
Made from old-vines Grenache, this Spanish red wine is sourced from mainly east-oriented vineyards planted from 950 to 1,200 metres above sea level in three lieu-dits: Arrebatacapas, La Redonda and La Curva, located near the village of Cebreros, province of Ávila, DO Cebreros. The vines are farmed following the guidelines of organic agriculture.
The hand-picked grapes were fermented with native yeasts. After that, this red wine from DO Cebreros-Sierra de Gredos was aged for 24 months in 400 and 500-litre French oak barrels from different origins.
Bottled in May 2022, the red wine Pegaso Barrancos de Pizarra 2020 was kept for at least 12 months in the cellar before being released.
