Red Wine Perelada Finca Espolla 2021
Availability: In stock
Made by Castillo de Perelada, the wine Perelada Finca Espolla showcases the distinctive character of L'Empordà, a region whose wines combine drama and elegance.
Made from a blend of Syrah and Monastrell (a.k.a Mourvèdre),this Spanish red wine is sorted from young, about 20-year-old vines planted in slate soils and located on the spurs of the Pyrénées, in a charming area called Les Alberes.
Harvested by hand, the grapes were first selected and macerated. Then this red wine from L'Empordà was fermented in stainless steel tanks.
After that, the wine Perelada Finca Espolla 2021 was aged for 22 months in new French oak barrels. Prior to its commercial release, this vegan wine was aged for a further months in its elegant Bordeaux bottle.
Decant this Crianza red wine 1 hour before drinking.
Appearance | The red wine Perelada Finca Espolla is deep ruby with a violet rim. |
---|---|
Nose | Deep mineral undertones that convey a distinctive sense of place, slowly evolving into aromas of ripe black fruit, bitter chocolate and violets, the primary varietal notes of Monastrell and Syrah. Dim remembrances of dry earth, Eastern spices and balsam in the background. |
Palate | Full-bodied and brooding, this single vineyard red wine of Castillo de Perelada is also detailed and very fresh. Again, impressive mineral notes, remembrances of balsam and menthol, suggestions of flowers and earth and, on the background, a layer of black fruit. Lively, crisp acidity and very long, mineral finish. |
Our personal opinion | Similar in style to some big bold south Australia reds, the wine Perelada Finca Espolla 2021 has nevertheless an even deeper soil imprint. |
